Where are you daddy? and why aren't you here?

by Emma Garcia   Jul 25, 2006

I remember when they came to the door
Thats when I knew something was up
I knew something was wrong
But I wasnt sure what

They made me go upstairs
While they spoke to mom
As I went up
My mind filled with wonder

Where are you daddy?
And why arent you here?
I know somethings wrong
Because your friends are here, and you are not.

As I sit in question
I have a thought
A thought to explain why your not here
& I thought it was just a thought

I thought to myself:
Hes dead
But then I said no
Hes my daddy and he's fine

You were in perfect health
And you had absolutely nothing wrong
You were perfect and flawless
And you were my daddy

After I snapped out of this horrible thought
Mom screams from downstairs
I hear her burst out in tears and yell
Oh my god! Are you serious?

A short while later I am called back downstairs
Mom sits with Emily and me on the couch
She is upset
And something is wrong

She tells me and Emily
Your two little girls
Who love you with all their hearts
She tells us this:

"Your father was in a car accident."
I immediately start to cry!
But I calm down a bit
To hear more of the story

I ask mommy,
I ask her if youre alright
She begins to cry
And tells me no
he didnt make it
