What were you feeling? And what was your last thought?

I have just heard the news
The news of my fathers death
I burst out in tears
And try to run for the door

But mom and a lady stop me
They sit me back down
And Mom, Emily and I start to cry
Mom keeps repeating to herself "this isnt happening."
And daddy, I wish it didnt

The lady on the other couch asks me if I have any questions
So I ask her how it all happened
And heres what she told me:

She said that you were getting a ride home from a friend
And that you had just got on the high way
There was a lady weaving in and out of traffic
And she hit the back of the car you were in

The car went out of control
Then flipped several times
And when it stopped
Your lifeless body sat inside

They told her you and the driver were wearing seat belts
Daddy, I thought seat belts were supposed to help
I thought they saved lives
So why didn't a seat belt save yours?

They also told her that you passed with little or no pain
But what they cant tell her is what I want to know most
I want to know if you were scared
Or if you even had time to be scared
It might have happened too fast
But what if it didnt?
What were you feeling?
And What was your last thought?
