You Can Be So Cruel

You Can Be So Cruel

Sometimes you can be so cruel,
to this heart that loves you true.

I never know where it is that you go,
or how to reach you on the telephone.
Sometimes I go out and drive around,
wondering when you are coming home.

I would never do anything to hurt you
and I try hard to never make you mad,
I have taken back things I didn't say,
just so your face wouldn't look so sad.

Sometimes you can be so cruel,
to this heart that loves you true.

I've wondered if you really love me,
and if you honestly want me to stay.
Seems like I've been waiting forever,
to hear the words I need you to say.

I know that I cannot live without you,
and that we really do belong together.
You have the power to rip out my heart,
but you're the storm I crave to weather.

Sometimes you can be so cruel,
to this heart that loves you true.

I swear to do whatever it may take,
to keep you right here by my side.
The pain you cause is a side-effect,
that I'll forevermore take in stride.

I never cared about the steep price,
or the blows you've dealt my pride.
I have compromised my soul for you,
Begged, borrowed, thieved and lied.

Ignoring that you can be so cruel,
this heart will always love you true.
