The Way It Must Be

by Su   Jul 29, 2006

I couldn't stand your love and care,
Too far from all I knew,
It was so strange you being there,
Far too good to be true.

I'm a bit of a loner, y'see,
Always have been,
Always will be,
You tried to save me,
...and I felt...something,
That wasn't how it was supposed to be,
I didn't need your 'saving'.

I couldn't take this helplessness,
So I pushed you far away,
My feelings I compressed,
I said I didn't need you anyway.

Although it made me feel better,
I was not vindicated,
I felt so hollow after,
And sad for the love I'd hated.

I've accepted myself how I am,
I can't change me,
Love will remain my enemy,
This is the way it must always be.
