Darkened mile.

Would you miss me? Would you notice? Would you wonder why?

Would you care? Would you mind? Would you even cry?
-
I might have stayed longer, I might have waited for a while,
But it was something I had to do,
I had to walk the darkened mile.

I might have stood there for a minute, watching as moments pass,
But that would be too late, so I got up off the grass.

Bewildered and lost, At first i didn't know which way,
should I have I played it differently -had something else to say?

The lies I had not walked out, until I walked for miles, disappearing into the distance, my heel cracking on floor tiles.

But then a thought , i found ,Where you following? was that your footsteps on the ground?

I stopped and turned around, less angry and more forgiving, If that was you following behind Id know its worth me living.

It would be the final test, it would prove your love and that you care,
but I couldn't see you, you hadn't moved, not even an inch, i swear.

My mascara bled down from my eyes, my heart was slowing between my sighs.

I quickened pace, I began to run,
I didn't stop until I was in the sun,
I took a breath, I heard a voice too late, my blood ran down the glistening slate.

I might have stayed longer, I might have waited for a while,
But it was something I had to do,
I had to walk the darkened mile.

~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~

I had frowned and tried to grab your hand, as you walked past in denial,
watched you, confused, as you began to walk the darkened mile.

Your scent had quickly gone, and your image became soon blurred, i didn't know what to do, what had I spoke of or slurred?

I froze a second, what to do, did I run toward now, run toward you?

What was right and what was wrong, I couldn't help but wonder why? I didn't mean to say what i said, I thought with a sigh.

Still, cold and confused I lay, you turned around but weren't stopping to stay.

You turned back round, loosing your slight smile, I rubbed my eye, stood and watched your feet on the tile.

I went to run, to stop you then, to say sorry, but I paused for a moment like and by the count of barley ten.

I shouted your name, but it was too late, I watched as you slipped, the vehicle hit and determined your fate.

I had frowned and tried to grab your hand, as you walked past in denial,
watched you, confused, as you began to walk the darkened mile.

-
I miss you. I noticed and I wonder why. I care and I mind. Every night I cry.

Ive lost my every smile since you walked the darkened mile.
