A Message

Can you see what I see?
Can you be what they say you'll never be?
Will you ever be more than they say?
Or will you lay down and die today?
You're to worried about what they think,
But where were they when your life began to sink?
I know on the inside you're scared to death,
I can tell from the alcohol smell on your breath.
You feel as though you have failed the test,
But every hero needs his share of rest.
You stay drunk to ease the pain,
What is it you're really trying to gain?
You're only making yourself a cage,
No one should look as old as you do at your age.
You live your life as they tell you,
All the time dieing as you do.
