The Last Kiss

by APoeticLetdown   Aug 1, 2006

People doubt my way of thinking,
They tell me to be realistic.
And when I tell them my heart is sinking,
They think I'm trying to be artistic.
They can't understand the way I feel,
It doesn't happen everyday,
But don't try to tell me it's unreal,
Because I know I'll find a way.
I stay up for hours and pace my room.
It's been days since I last slept.
It doesn't take long for the memories to consume,
The little part of me that's left.
But just when I feel like hope is lost,
I think about what I'm doing,
I love you, but the line was crossed,
This pain isn't worth pursuing.
I close my eyes and fall asleep,
And at once I see you're smile.
I tell you the secrets I swore that I'd keep,
But I know it's all worthwhile.
The rest of my dream is all a blur,
But I do remember this:
You held me in your arms and whispered,
"This wont be the last kiss."
