I agree. A hurricane should not be the factor in peoples lives which make them appreciate what they have.

Also, one CAN be happy without "God in their hearts." That is the poor message that all religious advocates throw out- Without God, your life is lived poorly- and that is exactly how your message flopped out. It takes a lot of gullability to believe in something that is not needed. You can find happiness within yourself, you do not need a supreme being ruling your life.

Anarchy of the soul is the truest form of freedom.

I think you expressed yourself very clearly with this. The imagery was very stark and poignant

    Porches leading to no houses

    that line really got me.
Not sure where I stand on the whole God message but I think the added message at he end sums it up well. Perhaps the real tragedy is that it takes something like this for people to truly pull together.

This poem really caught my attention and pulled me in. I had kind of forgotten about what happened last year, but i know i shouldnt, no one should. It was a horrible thing for all of those peopel to go through, and i thank god that so many people survived and that i have never been in that kind of situation. You really captured this subject beautifully, great work.

Very interesting topic for a poem, and it'll be nice in years to come to have your historical and emotional response to this tragedy. Great job.

Very good poem, It is sad to think we have to experience a tragedy to appreciate God, and each other. We should only have to see an ocean,a sunset,a mountain or a baby to know how much he has given us. Thank you for reading my poems and commenting
I will always do the same.
