Why she only listens

[This is the better version of my other poem, so please don't be 'shocked' if you recognize it ;-)]

She hides her fears in every emotion
because no one ever asks
why she doesn't talk anymore
why she only listens

When the fear comes in
then is all she knows:
without leaving his scars,
he will not go

The only thing she does
to feel the relief
is grabbing her friend
and banish that thief

Long thin traces on her arms
are all that's left behind
of the endless war
and rest she tries to find

But she would never feel again
the shattered memories were just--
too much to forget
too sharp to trust

She hid her fears in every emotion
because no one ever asked
why she didn't talk anymore
why she only listened
