Anorexic Heart

by Truest Lies   Aug 6, 2006

Anorexic heart,
Starves herself of love,
Though she wants to hear the words,
And she wants to feel the kisses.
She wishes she was perfect,
But thinks she needs to be alone,
There's not enough love "food"
To go around.

So she tells you that she's "eaten,"
That she feels hunger no more,
But inside she eats herself.
Morsels of nutrition,
Float though her fingers,
She's an anorexic heart,
Dreaming about dinners.
She'd dine on sweet demise,
She's feast on your kisses,
But someone said,
There wasn't enough to go round...

So she lets the hunger go on,
The agony persists,
Anorexic heart,
Needs some love,
So that the pain might desist.

She sits alone in the garden,
She watches the lovers walk away,
Now she's all alone,
Again,
And suddenly it feels okay.

There's no one left to hug her,
But frankly,
She doesn't care.
She stares into the distance,
As she wastes away.

She wanted to be perfect,
Didn't want to steal love,
From anyone.
So she turned her face away,
And looked into the distance.

You tried to feed her friendship,
With the honey of lively love,
But she said she wasn't "hungry,"
When you persist,
She says she's "angry,"
Though she's starving for your affection,
She lets herself waste away.
