Fragile

by megan   Aug 6, 2006

I was once whole.
I was real.
Rounded.
Simple.
Believing.

Then you came.
You walked down my path.
Met me half way.
Led me away.

Took me down that alley.
Granted all my darkest desires.

Taboos.
Unthinking.
Unreal.
Scandal.

Affect me.

You broke the circle.
You make me curved.
Real disappearing behind a foreboding mask.

This mask you create.
Does beauty resolute through?
Scars may cover.
Scabbing, melting fear.

Beauty can't exist in this.
You take away the beauty.

You take the circle.
The trust.
The hope.
The wishes.

Crushed.

Gone.

I'm breakable.
Don't mistake this.
This mask can crack.

The fear of what's underneath.
That's the marvelling splendor.
