Paperthin Hymn

by Twisted Heart   Aug 11, 2006

The preacher's gone, I'm all alone
I'm standing here, beside your grave
A gentle breeze, blows through the trees
My salty tears fall like rain.

I take the paper from my pocket
Unfold each and every crease
And as I stand, with note in hand
I hope I will find relief.

It wasn't very long ago
When we wrote upon this page
A melody, a Rhapsody
That death could not erase.

We wrote our feelings from our hearts
Forever etched within our souls
Two lover's breath, from the depths
Our pledge of love now unfolds.

So once again I sing for you
While I'm standing here alone
Just simple words, unrehearsed
While the Angels take you home.

*The Title isn't mine. I was going to post this on a main forum Title Contest, but it took me so long to finally post it, I couldn't find the contest again. I could have retitled it, but I loved this one.*

There are too many I'm and I's.
You could clean it up quite a bit and it would read even better....Holly

I am in awe of this poem, it is writee with such love and sadness, the third stanza is my favorite. it takes a great deal of talent to write with such heart wrenching detail, it is one my favorites I have ever read. Thanx, Timothy r
