The letter

A lonely young girl walking the beach
Her hopes and dreams far beyond reach
Caught in an undertow of heartfelt memories
Each one cutting at her heart like a disease
A letter had arrived earlier that day
It was from her husband from far and away
My Darling,
Don't cry for me for my time had come
Please kiss our daughter and say hello to our new son
A soldiers life was my lifelong career
Never did I think that I'd be leaving you here...
As ink stains the page from the tears she cries
Her true love gone her soul slowly dies
Remembering her little ones warm in their bed
She gathers her courage and reads on ahead...
A part of me dies each moment we're apart
Our love guides my soul and leads me to your heart
Don't give up hope for this is not the end
I'll wait here in heaven until we meet again...
She looked up to the stars with a heartfelt smile
She had asked for an angel and this was gods reply:
I couldn't send an angel for one was on his way
he was taken from the battlefield just the other day
For he had fallen protecting the country he loved
I granted him entrance to my home up above
I know your sad and mournful and don't quite understand
But a love like yours is eternal and you'll soon be joined again
Looking out upon the water she sees a shining light
God had sent her husband to say one last goodbye
"I'll wait here at the gates until your time here is done
When your faced with darkness I'll be your shining sun
Hold on to our memories keep them close to your heart
Know that even in death never will we part"
Holding on to one another they share their final kiss
Both thanking god for letting them have this
Finding closure she knows it's going to be alright
For her angel is watching over her each and every night
