My daddy, My friend

by Dawn Ellis Cantrell   Aug 17, 2006

It hurts so much everyday
Not having you here
To help me guide my way
What most couldn't see
You were a big part of me
Everyone couldn't be more wrong
When they all say:
It'll get better, it won't take long
Everyday only gets worse
Any minute, I feel I can burst
Knowing I can't just call you
That's what hurts the most
But I still feel you near me
And it's you I see
When I am feeling down and out
And in my life, I am full of doubt
I can look up in the sky
And I can see your blue eyes
Looking back at me
Saying daughter all is alright
I know in my mind you are gone
But in my heart, you are still strong
I cannot wait to see you again
You were not only my daddy
You were my best friend.
