Stranger To Me

by Jayden Mackwell   Aug 20, 2006

I look in a mirror,
And what do I see,
Nothing but a reflection,
A stranger to me.

I'm stuck here standing,
Watching the world pass me by,
Wading through my memories,
Of all I've left behind.

The clock keeps on ticking,
But my world's standing still,
They all say I'll make it,
But I don't think I will.

I'm barely a shadow,
Of who I used to be,
I've turned into this person,
A stranger to me.

And laying on my lawn,
I feel nothing but numb,
Not the grass beneath me,
Or the warmth from the sun.

And when I'm walking around,
It feels more like slipping,
Like there's no ground beneath me,
And this fight isn't worth winning.

And I'm living in the shadows,
Of who I thought I'd be,
I'm hiding in the shadows,
Of this stranger to me.

But the mask is still working,
Because no one can tell,
That my smile is a fake,
And that my life is hell.

I'm screaming on the inside,
And no one seems to hear,
They live their lives content,
While I live mine in fear.

I've become this image,
For everyone to see,
But the truth is this image,
Is a stranger to me.

There's something I have to say,
And know that this is true,
I'm the perfect imperfection,
And this is nothing new.

And everyone looks at me,
As if I'll change the world,
As if I'm something special,
But I'm not a perfect girl.

Now putting down all barriers,
And walls around my heart,
I've spent too many years,
Being ripped apart.

And now I'm sitting here,
Wondering who I should be,
I'm trying to confront this person,
This stranger to me.
