Daddy's Little Soldier.

by Megann Lee   Aug 31, 2006

My darling little child, hold my hand.
Escort me to my waiting truck.
Where I shall leave you standing.
To cry all alone, with no one to hold.

Oh come on, my little soldier.
Place a smile on that pretty little face.
Salute me, and tell my you love me.
Don't let those tears fall in my presence.

"Now that's better" he says.
A fake smile crossing her lips.
"I love you Daddy" She says.
Smiling he nods the trucking rolling away.

Glancing back, he watchs her fall.
Her hands digging the dirt.
As she rises to her feet.
Screaming loudly.

He ignores her helpless cries.
Keeping his back turned.
Her little legs carrying her.
Just as fast as she can run.

Then out of nowhere.
Her Mother quickly scooping her up.
Cradling her to her chest.
The child's tears falling rapidly.

Her words slurring as she screams.
Her cries going unheard as she longs for her Father.
One of many, whom has been torn from his family.
And shoved off to another country.

No one knowing if any of them shall ever return.
And the echoing cries that shall linger in his mind.
The ones his helpless child screamed out.
The one he, has nightmares about ever night.

"He's not coming home is he mommy"
The child asks her teary eyed Mother.
The Mother's words as sweet as can be.
"I'm sorry Child, he's never coming home."

And as both their eyes fill with tears.
The child, cries, placing her hand to her head.
Saluting up toward the sky, softly whispering.
"God Sir, Take Care Of My Daddy Please".

His little girl, left with no Father.
His wife left to cry day in and day out.
And how he never gave a proper good bye.
Cause he was to scared, to show his daughter, he too was breaking down..

Megan, I'm crying here. I know my dad is breaking down from not being able to give me everything I want, but I'm not in need of anything but his hand in mine. I'm really close to him.
