Let's Start A Revolution

by Sondos   Sep 3, 2006

Let's start a revolution!
From each corner of the globe,
To introduce a finer bean
A fairer way to probe.

Let's start a revolution!
From the hilltops to the sands
We children maybe the future
But their lives are in our hands

Let's start a revolution!
Do you hear that metallic sound?
Is it the loose change in your pocket?
Or their iron spades digging the ground

Let's start a revolution!
Don't you think it's strange?
The exchange of fine cocoa beans
For a millionaire's loose change

Let's start a revolution!
That farmer could be your dad
Or your brother throwing away
The fragments of childhood he once had

Let's start a revolution
And choose the chocolate bar that's fair
We could start a revolution
If we took the time to care
..............................................
Fairtrade chocolate is the only way cocoa bean farmers can get a fair deal.
Think About It

**this poem actually won the Divine Poetry Competition, thanks for all your comments and support, it won me lots of chocolate ;D)'

    AHHH! YOU'RE SO GOOD!
your rhyming scheme sounds so naturtal and flowing!
Just watch some tiny little edit-ing things.
like, "we children maybe the future" do you mean maybe or may be?
    but I think it's amazing!

THis was amazing...when I was reading this I thought of my youth group at church..we're known as Revolution Student Ministries. We talk all the time about how we can start a revolution and man I couldn't agree with you more! This was such a well written piece! I liked how you gave us the example of the farmer, really shows what a true poet you are and that you thought hard when writing this poem and put effort into! Loved it from beginning to end!
