Lost and alone

I go out to our favorite haunts
Hoping you will appear
And tell me you didn't mean those things
You said to me last year

I sit at home on lonely nights
And think of better days
And wonder if you think of me
In any of these ways

We were two ships that traveled
The same course for a time
But something made you change
To a different course than mine

I hope you find the happiness
You didn't find in me
And I'll continue to plow along
Like a ship lost in the sea
