Chains and Locks

by Just Sierra   Sep 12, 2006

Love's fragile glass exterior has fallen
From the table of truth and lies.
The mask you held and smiled through
Has become your biggest disguise.

Drop the act and the chorus will play,
Can't you see we're all immune?
The first to lead, I'll unleash my confessions,
You're not the first to lie in this room.

Spin around in circles all day, if you will,
To ignore the dancing lights and sound.
But soon enough, you'll be on your own,
As your lies will come crashing down.

Unavoidably, the truth was bound to spill,
Just as the glass was destined to break
Your heart is cleansed in the reddest of wines,
As they were only your sins to make.

Jesus has scribbled your name under "liar"
So here's your last chance to be redeemed.
You were given your life to be liven with love,
Not to be destroyed by love's foolish dream.

Everyone's locked in masks like prison bars.
See not the criminal for his alleged crime.
But as one of many who have been misguided
By the promise of love's drink for all time.

You've shattered the glass, the table is drenched,
Shards of memories are all that remains.
The crowd dances on behind their own masks,
Unmoved by deceit that keeps us in chains.
