I hate you
You are the last thing
I need in my mind
You bitter loneliness

For making me feel
So lonesome in this world
You bitter loneliness

I fear you
For you remind me again and again
Those dark cold moments of pain
You utter loneliness

I need you
With you I learn to be
Strong in mind and heart
You rough loneliness

I love you
For being with you takes me back
To the care-free happy days of my life
You sweet loneliness

I love you
For in you quiet company I realize
The true yearnings of my heart
My sweet loneliness

Yet I want you
To leave me on the day I find
A true friend, a true partner for life
My dear loneliness
