My True Love

by Electric Monkey   Sep 19, 2006

You came into my life so gentle and meek
And gave it such meaning when it looked so bleak.
You thought no ill, nor thought me a freak
But such love from your heart your lips did speak.

You keep me alive by your loving existence,
And by staying so true forever from hence.
Your face is so lovely. It's no coincidence
That I met you that day when our love commenced.

My heart is strained each time you're away.
My soul is longing for you to stay.
I feel so empty, so tempted to stray
From your tender love when you're gone away.

I relish each moment when I am with you,
And remember you're mine, to you I am true.
Though great wealth or poverty I should accrue,
You will always love me and I will love you.

I yearn for your touch, strain for your call;
Your voice upon mine ears to fall.
I will not forget you, no, never at all
When this world around us is ever so small.

You care so much it's hard to believe,
Because all this time my heart had grieved
For someone to come my pain relieve
And stay close beside me never to leave.

When we are together forever at last,
And all the pain and strife is past,
And the gulf between us no longer so vast,
Then we shall be happy together at last.

Dedicated to Alicia,
My One True Love
