I Mused Over You Silently ((c) 1996)

by Kenneth Scott   Sep 22, 2006

I mused over you silently,
though you knew not,
looked deeply
into your exquisite beauty
for the sweet answers to
my soul's deepest yearnings,
and though your nonchalance
was secure in itself
as you sat working,
I thought, "what if,"
"what if,"
"what if,"
"what if Sweet Completion
sat alongside of me
in her dear simplicity?
What if the calmness of the sea
that rested within her gentle gaze
was my peace all along?
What if every Don-Quixote Plan of mine
were truly nothing, and all along
she were my Destiny,
her life, the Voice I foolishly ignored for so long,
my age-long Quest to be fulfilled
in one simple yet lasting caress?"
---
More often than not,
though such admission of truth
is, to many, a great stabbing wound
to the ego, we are mere ships
that sail an endless sea called "life,"
rudderless, yet with great,
billowing sails of desire.
