Harder than not saying goodbye,
Is hearing them whisper your name,
Telling you to live your life,
That everything will be okay.

Harder than not saying goodbye,
Is listening to them say I Love You,
Needing them like nothing on earth,
But watching their consciousness skew.

Harder than not saying goodbye,
Is seeing their moment of pain,
Seeing them slowly drift away,
Never to return again.

Harder than not saying goodbye,
Is listening to their heart cease,
As you sit by the one you love,
As your tears increase.

Harder than not saying goodbye,
Is seeing them before they leave,
Having the chance to say goodbye,
But all you did was grieve.
