Passion

by Paggles   Sep 25, 2006

Passion found its fragile reeds
Poisoned stem to thorn
Starving its unnourished needs
Bulbs all cracked and torn
Spreading thin its brittle seeds
Wounded, used and worn
Withering toward destiny
Broken and forlorn

Love had hitched a lengthy ride
Down a rocky road
Started with a healthy stride
Ending as it slowed
Hit head-on with it wounded pride
Heavy was the load
Happiness to be denied
Heartache was bestowed

Hope curled up on hardened ground
Parched from lack of tears
Dried-up dreams upon its crown
Nightmares full of fears
Dehydration brought it down
Blistering it sears
Undernourished it was found
Wishing death was near

Faith had squandered all its might
In the end did lose
Knowing not which fight to fight
Choosing not to choose
Falling like a wounded knight
Crushing its enthuse
Darkness cloaked itself in light
Trust had been abused

Death had come to reap it's own
Stealthy as can be
Muted screams were heavy thrown
To eternity
Grinding all that had not flown
Collecting the debris
Blood was gathered to be blown
To the blackened sea

But, alas, death wasn't told
Someone shed a tear
Passions seed had taken hold
Sprouting very near
Love had finally gotten bold
Hope was grasping fear
Faith had risen to behold
Trusting and sincere

And even when the end was nigh
Belief had run away
A single tear fell from the sky
Blinded toward betray
As promised, He would not deny
This grace unto His way
And so He wept and as He cried
His guidance lit the way
