Twisted Heart

by Twisted Heart   Sep 26, 2006

Reaching in the cavity, the heart is pulled away
Twisted up in misery within it's own decay
Harnessed for the pagan, who's hunger it will feed
Pumping it's last bit of life, spawning Satan's seed.

Thumping loud against the bones, It brings a final breath
Into the mouth of the pagan child it now manifests
With greedy moans the child suckles every drop.
Leaving just the empty shell of a once so healthy heart.

Satan takes the child, who's thirst is satisfied
And places him among the wretched souls this night
Upon the scattered ashes the demon's set the stage
For all his pagan children to feast upon his rage.

With shrieks of hunger the pagans take to wing
Against the shadows of the moon, the song of death they sing
As they gather up to feast, not one soul resisted
They reached into the cavities, took the hearts, and twisted.

This poem is... exquisite! I don't remember the last time a poem sobered me up (figuratively) this much! Oh, the imagery was beautiful, in a dark, ghastly way. And can I talk more about the imagery? The picture you described sent shivers down my spine. Bravo.
