For Awhile

by Ten Feet Tall   Mar 13, 2004

For awhile we'll be friends.
Then you'll go,
And blow me off again.
We won't talk for weeks on end,
But I know you want to,
So do I.
Then all of a sudden,
And out of the blue,
You'll ask for a hug.
I can't refuse.
It makes me feel so good again.
We'll sit and talk everyday.
I'll help you,
And you'll help me.
We'll laugh
And joke,
And act like old friends again.
This is the greatest feeling.
But way down deep,
I know,
It will only last for awhile.
Then you'll go,
And be with your other friends,
And I'll be with mine.
And for awhile,
We will be like enemies.
Never speaking.
But I know this won't be forever.
And I'm glad.
So for now,
For awhile,
Just for awhile,
You stay there,
And I'll stay here.
