Dear mum

Dear mum,
I am sorry I am not your angel,
The perfect girl you desire,
I am sorry I disappoint you,
I am not what you aspire.
I am sorry I am not a virgin,
I am sorry I have done drugs
I am sorry I give you grief
And do not enjoy hugs
I am sorry I have an attitude problem
And say what is on my mind
I am sorry I resent you
And miss the things I left behind
I am sorry you cannot understand me
I am sorry you do not seem to care
And each night I wonder
If you even know I am there
I am sorry I am writing this poem
I am sorry I bring you shame
But most of all I am sorry,
That you are the one to blame
You are the one who raised me
Let me down so many times
Ignored me when times got hard
As well as my shameful cries
I know that you are sorry too!
You are sorry that I was born,
You are ashamed of my mistakes
Ashamed to call me yours
Thanks a lot mum,
Aly

Love this- it is so raw and yet so so true to the bone [always the best poetry arrives from truth].. keep up the excellent work. xx
