Unrequited

by enfant du tordu chagrin   Oct 9, 2006

Ground like dirt beneath the heel
Trod upon with hater's zeal
Heart discarded, love unwanted
By regrets I am left haunted

Yet another promise broken
Even as the words are spoken
Once again I'm torn asunder
And I'm slowly slipping under

Phone unanswered left to ring
And still I cannot do a thing
Always to be left unknowing
Whilst the ache inside is growing

I offer support I'm giving my all
But I'm always alone to take the fall
Sometimes it seems that all I gain
Is yet more hope, and yet more pain

It's not betrayal I can't bear
It that fact it's without care
No thought for how it is I feel
Ground like dirt beneath the heel
