Thoughts

I open my journal,
While I'm sitting in school,
And they want me to write
Whatever is on my mind.
So I find a clean page,
And I click my pen,
And I wonder...
What is on my mind?
Funnily enough, it seems,
Every minute of today,
No matter what it is I've been doing,
It all comes back to you.
Your eyes, your smile,
The way you hold me in your arms,
When you look at me, the way I die,
Why do you inhabit my mind?
Why can't I go through one day,
Without you entering my thoughts?
During lunch, I think of all the fun we used to have,
Eating during mealtimes, just hanging out.
During class, I think of all we learned together,
And everything you taught me.
There has to be an explanation,
For this uncanny sensation,
I hear you talking, and I smile,
Though in my mind, I'm in control,
When I look at you, I lose myself,
Lose myself in the thoughts and dreams
That waltz into my mind when I see and feel.
How did we get this far in life?
You enter me through my mind,
And oh, how you make me want to fly,
Fly and land right where you are,
Next to you after so long.
How long has it been since I've seen you?
It seems like a wait a lifetime to see you.
Every year.
I wait.
And wait.
But why do we wait so long?
Why...
The teacher is telling us to close our books,
So I guess it's time to stop thinking now.
Stop thinking about you for awhile.
So I click my pen off,
And close my journal,
And go back to my unspoken thoughts,
In my heart.
Thoughts...of you.
