A tale, like those once told

by Todd   Oct 11, 2006

She was but once
The lady fair
And there were residing there
More locks than just those of golden hair
But towers told in myth and beasts within
And all without that assault and sin
She was but once
The lady fair

Through the course of months
The lady fair
Drifted as an autumn leave through air
Landed and bloomed on a field once bare
Wilted, shrank, grew again
Trading between the world and the world of men
And back again
And back again
She was but once
The lady fair

Come
What say you of the flame that burns
Both bright and slow
Of the blade that cuts
Both wielder and foe
Prometheus gave such gifts to the human race
And for his trouble his bowels the birds lay waste

She was but once the lady fair
Though we find her radiance rare
Through all the ages of the world we wear
She was but once the lady fair
