Take 1

by Becky   Oct 13, 2006

Disquieted calls for help
cowering in the corner
I rock on my heels
my body shaking involuntarily
lips muttering forever unheard words

cries, unfamiliar to my ears
resound off the walls
I sag to the floor
now lying on my side
my heavy eyes , unwilling to close
against the murky light

tearing at itself
my mind tries to escape
from the pain of my existence

gleaming in the distance
I see my past searching for my now
I thought it was over and gone
past friends gripping my skin

torn apart, the pieces of my strength
litter the cold floor
all it took was one,
sweet reminder
and I came flowing back

my reserves all spent
on an effort long since gone
my dear friend
calling for my help
while I'm in my weakest state

a feud with my beloved
has just transpired
emotions setting off alarms
fragility set on high
you see the signs
and slip your way into the cracks in my reasoning

you throw your presentation at me
compiled of memories I've pushed to the back burner

you've been watching me
preparing fast balls
you know I can't catch

my fake laugh makes it's way into
my all but shattered sanity
you simulate his kiss
once soft upon my lips
now hard and regretful

I break,
the sound of my sanity crashing down
causes the room to shake

the curtains open
and eyes peer in

welcome everyone
to the show
