The Distant Light

by Twisted Heart   Oct 14, 2006

Into the mist I slowly tread, upon broken feet of age
Along the path of comfort, I walk with humbled grace
I see the splendor of the light, a distant heart has called
I'm going home, to my love, and I'm not scared at all.

Though many years have come and gone, since I saw his face
I know that in his loving arms, I'm sure I'll find a place
I've traveled many lonely roads, for years in solitude
Because the love we shared on earth, was shared by just us two.

Upon the love we built our life, we fulfilled each other's dreams
He always had strong shoulders, in which for me to lean
But then his life was taken, and I was left to carry on
For just an instant he was here, and just as fast, was gone.

But now I see him in the light, his arms are open wide
And as they close around me, I feel the warmth inside
Two hearts that's gone the distance, and found each other's soul
Is so much more than anything this world could ever hold.
