I tried...but I will

by Courtney   Oct 16, 2006

I remember when you were the child
I tried to protect.

I tried to be strong for you
so you'd never forget.

Why do you always test the limits of death?

You loved to try those scary ones, but I never thought you'd resort to crystal meth.

I once loved a healthy, spunky girl

But she has morphed into something that makes me want to hurl

I tried to protect you with all my might

But how can I when your mind is always out of sight?

I tried to be strong for you and carry all your weight

But now my burden of you is way too great!

This is not a good-bye or a "so long"

However, I am very disappointed in you, I thought you were so strong

I cannot leave
For deep down, you are still my friend

Just lean on me as a rock
Don't worry, I will not break or bend.

Wow, amazing poem. Your getting your message across very very well. The rhyming is absolutely genious. It was somewhat depressing to read, but your friend is lucky she's got someone like you. Tip for the future: if you even out the number of syllables for each line it flows a lot better. GREAT POEM!

I liked reading this poem because of the drugs mentioned in the poetry and how they can affect someone and the ones around them.
