PRETEND

by ALLEN CEM   Oct 18, 2006

LIVING IN FEAR EACH DAY,
THAT I MIGHT GET CAUGHT
I PRETEND TO BE THIS, PERSON I'M NOT,
I LIVE MY LIFE KNOWING ITS A LIE,
THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS IS ME,
AND THESE TEARS I CRY
IT HELPS ME HOLD MY GUARD UP FROM A WORLD SO FAKE,
SELFISH PEOPLE, ONLY KNOW HOW TO TAKE,
THEY SAY THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FOR FREE,
THEN WHY IS IT THAT MOST THINGS IN LIFE COME TO AN END BECAUSE OF MONEY, MADE FROM A TREE,
NEVER SATISFIED, WE ALWAYS WANT MORE,
WHEN WE DON'T GET WHAT WE WANT WE WALK OUT THE DOOR,
YES I TOO, AM GUILTY OF THIS FOOLISH GREED
JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, I WANT MORE THEN I NEED
SOME PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING THERE HEADED FOR THE FALL,
SOME PEOPLE ARE MORE FORTUNATE THEY HAVE IT ALL,
BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T MATTER WERE ALL THE SAME,
WE PLAY LIFE LIKE IT'S SOME SILLY GAME
THE GAMES ON US NOW, A WORLD WE CANT MEND
LIVING IN A WORLD WHERE WE ALL PRETEND.......
