Empty Reflection

by Caroline   Oct 20, 2006

She looks into the mirror
Standing in front of this girl
So weary, so young
Something inside of her burns

You can tell she hasn't had enough sleep
Dark circles under those eyes
And sunken cheeks

Her life's become a wreck
Nothing is stable anymore
Can't get herself back in check
Her priorities have fallen to the floor

Tears start streaming down those eyes
No one knows what she goes through
That agony, that pain
Only she knows the truth

It's hard for her to look back in the mirror
And witness what she sees
Her pain becoming visible
Her mind vulnerably weak

The reflection of this young woman
The horror that is so terribly real
If you saw what she sees
And felt what she feels

But once again, she hides it like a murderer
Committing a first degree
She looks back at her mirror
My God no, that can't be me.
