Forgotten

by Amnah   Oct 23, 2006

In my neighborhood, around a turn
Lies a house, derelict and burned
And if you ever happen to look inside
The broken windows, from your eyes
Youâ??ll see a darkness you canâ??t penetrate
When you go inside, youâ??ll find
Rust and dust of every kind
Nothing in it is all right
Everything is a pitiable sight
And in a room, thatâ??s relatively bright
The dust covered floor
Has a picture, that has fluttered in
Through the broken window
The sunlight falls on it
And what do you see?
People and memories, stopped in time
And theyâ??re smiling, waving away
Not knowing that thereâ??s no one
To see them, care for them
To return their waves and smiles
And time passes, day and night
And no one notices the picture anymore
It lays there, forgotten, covered in dust
And never thought about, Iâ??m sure
And this is what life will be one day,
Just a picture, that is FORGOTTEN.
