Winter's Song [as told by the oak]

by Twisted Heart   Oct 30, 2006

The autumn leaves are falling
They blanket the earth
as winter rains set in.
Cold gusts of winds are calling
The snowbirds birth
when chills from the damp begin.

Into the heart of winter's face
Come shivers to my soul
not yet pacified
Upon the land a humbled grace
That leaves me cold
as my limbs, now, are petrified.

The winds have blown me bare
They've torn at my heart
and left me in pain
Hollowed by the mountain air
Torn and withered scars
are all that remain.

Sturdy, once, and full of life
Kissed by the breeze,
as spring had begun
But now I live a life in strife
Without the leaves
and without the sun.

The solemn song of winter's echo
Comes briskly in the night
and calls to me
A tune that causes me to follow
Into the rage of it's might
is now my only destiny.
