Broken Promises

by Cathy   Nov 1, 2006

Juniors our son I can see his pain
how did you feel when he looked at you in shame

He didn't say hi he didn't even talk
he just turned his head and started to walk

You can see in his eyes hes so sad and blue
you are his father why can't you see he needs you

You break too many promises and hes starting to feel
that the only dad in his world isn't even for real

His heart is broken and so is the girls their daddy's suppose to be their diamonds and pearls

The one they love the one to make them feel safe
not the one that leaves without a trace

Whats wrong with you open up those eyes, your losing your children with all of your lies

Don't make any promises you know you won't keep
don't make them wait up when its time to sleep

They stayed up late Sunday waiting for you to come
you should of heard the words that came out of your son

He said they don't have a dad what am I suppose to say
I see their pain with each passing day

And yesterday when we went out for Halloween
you didn't show up on time you were no where to be seen

So when your son walked away from you last night
I hope it put it into your head to do whats right

Look at their little face
don't be a disgrace

Be there father and show them you care
stop breaking your promises and just be there

You have a really good writing ability. I can tell this came right from your heart with all the emotion that is in it. I like poems that come more from the heart than the head. Keep up the work. I hope to read more of your work.

I like your poem. I feel your pain, I'm a young woman going through kinda the same.....stay strong and be the best you can be because at least deep down they can say mommy loves me!
