There is this girl i once knew
she laughs like nothings wrong
but only i know she isn't as strong as she appears
as a tear nears the end of its life she hides it behind her fingers
hoping no one has seen it escape
she jumps up to hug her friend as he arrives
as her smile disappears and reapears as she sees him
he walks by, hands in his pockets with no smile
since the pain he thrives upon is hidden beneath her fake smile
