True Moral

by Jesslyn   Nov 10, 2006

The snow and rain had mixed
The car was not yet fixed
He quickly sped from her drive,
Now he's lucky to be alive.

Figuring what he did
As the car just slid
While he began to shake
He pushed his foot on the brake.

She couldn't fall asleep
Her thoughts were just too deep.
He had done nothing wrong.
She'd known this all along.

She put her feet on the ground.
Looking for a reason unfound
Out to her car she walked.
She knew it was time they talked.

His mind began to race
All he could see was her face.
He realized it was his fault.
His car then came to a halt.

The only thing she could see was sleet
As she sat on the edge of her seat.
She was too close rather than far
When she saw the other car.

The headlights burned through his window
When the cars collided in the snow.
What was he going to do?
Helplessly, his body flew.

She laid in the cold.
She'd tried something bold,
She caused and accident
Her body; broken and bent.

He awoke in a hospital bed
But couldn't shake that pain from his head.
Where was the other person?
Had he been the only one?

She reached for the curtain,
She was almost certain
That she could have been alone
What she saw chilled her to the bone.

She just left all the pain behind.
She couldn't shake the thought from her mind.
The fact she'd hit him was bitter not sweet.
He carefully raised himself to his feet.

There he was,
There she was,
Figuring out the maze,
They held their loving gaze.

They learned a lesson that night,
"Don't rush out after a fight."
No matter how bad,
Never go home mad.
