Nobody Ever Asks

by kyroque   Nov 13, 2006

The tall man in front of me
Looks rather sad.
The lady to the left with four kids,
Is nothing but mad.

I wonder how their day went,
To cause such a mood.
Did he lose his job?
Where the children rude?

Has the young girl in glasses
Ever failed a test?
Is the boy in the school jersey
Going to a game to try his best?

Has the man in the business suit
Ever cheated on his wife?
Will the janitor taking out the trash
Ever do something with his life?

Does the shifty man nearby
Have hidden drugs or a gun?
And if he pulled it out
Who'd be shot? All or none?

How long has that couple
Been dating, they look perfect.
The women beside me sighs hopelessly,
She's alone, what'd you expect?

Has anyone here ever sky-dived
Painted, or watched animal Planet?
Is this person nice? Or interesting?
If she's rude, then can it.

The older person over there,
He's been here a while.
Where's he been? What's he done?
Cause on his face there's a smile.

Is the man in black going to funeral?
His cousin, grandma, maybe his father?
I want to ask... but maybe he's FBI?
I'm just stupid so I don't even bother.

And then, what about me?
What's my story, where have I been?
Have I ever done something bad?
Do I look like the rest of my kin?

Am I fascinating or dull?
Have I accomplished some great task?
I guess nobody will ever know,
Because nobody ever asks.

You do something which not a lot of people on this site do and that is, draw the audience in. Each sentence drew me in further and left me intrested which is hard to do. The last lines are perfect.

I guess nobody will ever know,
    Because nobody ever asks.

    Great line, amazing poem.
