Yea so we all know
the same old speech
that our parents give
that same old preach
but now its my time
to say something new
to say something
thats probably more true

yes we all agree you cant quit in life
you need to do stuff to win that fight
but
its impossible to never fall down
and its impossible to never drown

mom and dad can you say you always flew in life
kept your head in the clouds
always saw the light
no i didn't think you can
not many truly did
can you understand how i feel
when i say i wanna quit

are you trying to make my life easier
yelling, screaming, telling me to do better
give me some space
give me some time
stop getting all in my face
its like i committed a crime

let me fall down
let me drown
let me pick myself back up
without you kicking me back down
let me resurface and breathe
without you pulling me back into the sea
let me make my own choices
you didn't have to make them for me

you ask me why i want to quit
you tell me to never give up what i wanted
but you dint remember do you
i did this for you

so all the mistakes and falls i took
were because you guided me to take them
it was you who pressured me to do this and that
and never listened to my reasons
well now you look at me as your mistake
i guess your right i AM your mistake

now you ask me why i wont do what you say
I'm your mistake
its time to make some of my own
i didn't want you to control my life
give me some room
