At Peace in Heaven

My heart has never known such pain
As when you left my life,
The sweet memories flood back to me
Causing many tears and strife.

I don't think the pain will ever end
I think of you day and night,
My precious mother, I love you so much
But I understand why you could no longer fight.

You said you did not want to leave us
And that tears my heart apart,
But mom you fought it long enough
It was time for you to part.

You left this earthly life behind
Going to your home above,
A place where you have no more pain
Only joy, peace and love.

You were a fine example of courage and strength
Surviving incredible pain,
Despite what you went through in life
You found ways to bounce back again.

It is time for you to rest now mom
You left in beauty and grace,
I will always love you and forever miss you
Within my heart you'll hold a special place.
