Through my eyes

Through my eyes
you may see nothing
an appearance so grim
you start to wonder
i was trained
trained to be a solider
you think it is easy?
to hold back your fears
To let a loved one go
and shed no tears
I think of my mistakes
and my soul kind of dies
I could have told them
as i looked deep into their eyes
mistakes are in the past
don't cry over a guy
step-dad's an excellent coach
but not quite my guide
after that 6 months
I said to myself
you have iron through your blood
soldier, you are tough
no more tears
grin and bear it
grab your gun
and take care of that
he ain't worth it
what a jerk
oh, and to this soldier business
there's a perk
never to love
try not to care
Fear of being hurt
not even gonna go there
i stiffen my lip
as i watch him go
soldier it's your fault
that i do know
