I Buried You Today

by Shannon   Nov 25, 2006

I buried you today, deep in the back of my mind.
With every shovel of pain,
I buried you.

I did not hold a memorial,
I did not give a eulogy,
I did not shed a tear,
I did not say goodbye.

I will not mourn,
I will not lose sleep,
I will live in peace.

I will not bargain,
I will not grieve,
I will not get angry,
I will not live in denial,
I will not go through the 5 stages of grief.

No more sad goodbyes,
No more tears of sorrow,
No more empty promises,
No more broken heart.

I buried all your broken promises,
I shed all my shattered dreams,
And I cried my last tear.

Why you ask?
Because I buried you today.
