Trapped in a dream

by Tash   Nov 27, 2006

I lay on my bed and become cushioned by its embrace
i clear my mind, shut my eyes and remove emotion from my face
all i can see is darkness, no light, no noise
i realize i am falling, i awaken and stiffen my poise

i fall back asleep to find a tunnel, see a curve at the end
i walk to wards it, i am drawn from reality, i turn bend
who am i? where could i be? the walls around me become frozen
time stands still, confusion, this is not the path i have chosen

i turn around to find a shadow, unseen, unidentified
what are you? what do you want? i stand there still, petrified
the shadow moves forward, i get a chill down my spine
i run so fast, heaving, coughing, it wants to take from me whats mine

me, it wants me, but why? do i have to know?
i run to find a door, i have to leave now, i have to go
the door wont budge, i scream, i cry, i curse, i pound
i rattle the handle, bang at the wood, it only makes a tiny sound

dreams are your minds way of trapping you

I find this to be really true, I totally agree with you. I think whether we are dreaming or whether we are living in reality, we still always seem to end up at square one. Being trapped. We're trapped in our dreams, and we're drapped in reality. So how do we escape? Excellent poem! Dark and chilling.
