Snow Day

Wake up at 6:30
Grumble as I turn in bed,
Don't wanna go to school today
A test, a quiz, and teachers I dread,
Someone yells out in the distance,
"Oh my gosh, look at all that snow!
Are we having a Snow Day?"
I don't really know.
I choose to decline,
And go back to sleep,
Snow Day or not,
I don't make a peep.
Woke up at 7:30
Jumped as I looked at the clock,
Ran downstairs screaming,
"Nobody woke me up!"
Caught a glance out the window,
And stopped in disbelief,
Ten inches of snow, at the least
Covering the ground, and the leaves of the trees.
No school! No tests!
I smile and celebrate,
Call up all my friends and plan
A Snow Day holiday
Noodle soup and hot chocolate,
December started with a bang,
And thank goodness I have a cold,
Or I'd hafta shovel with the rest of my gang!
