Highest Bid

by Not just a metaphorical genius   Dec 3, 2006

You said you loved me, so long ago
You were the first, love I would know
A little girlâ??s dream, blurred my sight
I was in denial, my soul in a fight

But you shouldnâ??t have said, those things you did
I couldnâ??t bet higher, she, me out bid
She was the one, straight from the start
But why did you have to play with my heart?

You pulled me close, and called me yours
My face blushed, my conscious ignores
A perfect fit, or so you said
You captured my heart, and messed with my head

Please donâ??t ask, if I still feel
I stopped that, when we werenâ??t real
A foolish habit, of mine to be
So stupid in love, for all to see

Stop wasting my time, stealing my life
Go back to your dearest, leave me in strife
Give up on the one you didnâ??t know
The one whoâ??s feelings, would never show

Just shut your mouth, and leave me to rot
The girl you want, is not the one you caught
Leave me to, collect what is left
Of my heart broken by your selfish theft

I would have been fine, if you had been honest
Not made me a contender, in this sick contest
But you didnâ??t do that, you played with my heart
You claimed damn love, from the first start

Donâ??t wish, she would be like me
Too numb to feel, and too mad to be
You created us, now pay the cost
We are the ones whoâ??s mind you lost

We are your creatures, the ones you had killed
The blood mixed with tears as they both spilled
Iâ??m sorry to say, that your attempt failed
Too late to board, this ship has sailed
