Shallow Breathing

by Not just a metaphorical genius   Dec 3, 2006

Shallow breathing, full of lies
One last shot, as her heart tries
One life stalled, as others live
A sacrifice, never meant to give

Is she too lost, to be saved?
No one knows, the answer craved
They tried again, to get a beat
But nothing came, they claimed defeat

Sleeping for days, fermenting her pain
With so much to lose, and nothing to gain
They promised, never, for her to die this way
But the cords left her with nothing, for her to say

A deep dream left them hoping it fake
But nothing was there, with so much at stake
They gambled her free, into the light
Not knowing it wrong, thinking it right

Coughing whats left, out of her life
Prepare her for surgery, go under the knife
Dont worry, she said, it had to be
Trying her hardest, try not to see

They counted to ten, and asked her name
Needles and nurses, countless shame
Is she too lost, to be saved?
No one knows, the answer craved
