Superstar

by Just Me   Dec 4, 2006

Superstar,
I never thought
I would ever need another human being
For so long
I built up these walls
for so long
I've lied to myself
saying I didn't need anyone
so long, I almost started to believe it
and yet you walked right through my walls
as if they were clothes hanging out to dry
You penetrated my fortress
where no one had been in so long
then one by one
you showed me the truth
to my lies
You showed me my worth
you showed me how badly I needed you
and now one by one we're
breaking down my wall
brick by brick
stone by stone
and the amazing thing is
you're still right beside me
you're patching my blistered hands
and when I freak out
and want to build them up again
you gently take my hand
and whisper "its ok"
and then it is
where all those "friends"
you have remained.
It seems so unfair
in so many ways
because thank you
will never be enough
never could two small words a hundred times said
express the grattitude I have
and never will I love you
be justly said
because sometimes I think what we have is so much more than love
The point of this poem
was to express something close
to whats in my heart
but now I see
I can never truly express how important you are to me.
So I'll just do my best
with a hug and endless amounts of love
and hopefully you'll know one day
